The general consensus is that our foods today as a result of the growing, the storing, the shipping and the preservation process has robbed our foods of a percentage of the nutrients they were intended to provide.  So in other words the quality of our food is not what it was in years gone by.

I PERSONALLY BELIEVE THIS and as a result I’ve always taken a multi-vitamin.  Right or wrong that’s what I’ve always done.  I’ve always simply felt the need to supplement my system with the nutrients my body needs to achieve fitness and wellness.

WHAT DO I EAT?

Turkey, chicken breast or salmon (wild caught- not farm raised) are the meats I consume. My hamburgers, hot dogs, polish sausages and ribs have been over for years. Through my sometime juicing and smoothies I also take in broccoli, celery, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, spinach, kale and asparagus. I love oatmeal and raisins and if I decide to have a light breakfast that is what I will eat (Old Fashioned Rolled Oats). My eggs are scrambled with mozzarella cheese and I eat very little bread. I must note here that I rarely eat breakfast except maybe on the weekends. Daily when I get up and before heading to the gym I will only have a "hot tea" that includes:

GREEN TEA * GINGER (fresh grated ginger root) *HIBISCUS TEA * GARLIC (grated) *LEMON JUICE *LIME JUICE *APPLE CIDER VINEGAR* BEETS POWDER*

PROTEIN POWDER(note-protein does not mix as wellin the hot solution) * CLOVES (ground up) *COLLAGEN POWDER *CINNAMON POWDER *TUMERIC *CAYENNE PEPPER *MUSHROOM POWDER w/ASHWAGANDA

I sweeten my drink to taste with "pure honey". This powers me through my workout and carries me to lunch time without feeling hungry or feeling a lack of energy. I also carry with me a handful of peanuts and raisins in the event I do feel hungry from the intensity of my workout.

I eat food from outside the home very little.  My wife is an excellent cook (lots of herbs and spices). Whenever I do eat outside (my goal is to keep it as simple as possible, i.e. baked and/or grilled (chicken breast/turkey). My sides are a baked sweet potato or steamed broccoli, and sauteed spinach with lots of garlic or just a plain salad.  I request no salt be added to my food.  I carry my own "no salt" seasoning.

I also take my filtered water with me which I spiced up with a little cayenne pepper, pure honey, organic apple cider vinegar, lime juice and lemon juice.

We try to stay as pure and natural as possible and again minimizing salt (sodium), sugar, starches and eliminating red meat. There is also a minimum of dairy in my diet. I do occassionally have an ice cream however, I prefer fruit sorbet. A donut or slice of carrot cake or vegan oatmeal raisin cookies ( my weakness) with a cup of decaf coffee or Hibiscus Tea but I always check the scale and if the numbers are good for me, I indulge and if the numbers are not good in my opinion then I don't indulge. It is indeed a personal preference based on your own ultimate goal(s).

I am certainly not professing to have all the answers or even most of them, I'm just sharing what I do.  I believe that exercise and healthy eating is key and I try to put these concepts into practice daily.

"As I have aged I've transitioned from "LIVING TO EAT" to "EATING TO LIVE" because I want to be available for my wife and daughter for as along as possible and not be a burden to them. Remember: Let food be your medicine and medicine be your food. "Hippocrates".
